DuPont™ Artistri™ to Showcase Grand Format Textile Printing of Gigapxl™ Project Photography at FESPA

As part of its introduction of the DuPont™ Artistri™ 3320 textile printing system at FESPA Digital Printing Europe 2006 (Booth E500, Hall 9), DuPont invites attendees to experience the printing of ultra-high-resolution images from the Gigapxl™ Project on fabric.

"We will be printing beautiful, ultra-high-resolution images from the Gigapxl™ portfolio with our new grand format DuPont™ Artistri™ 3320 textile printing system," said Gary Turner, business development manager for DuPont™ Artistri™. "These images capture detail and clarity from the highest-resolution landscape camera ever created."

The Gigapxl™ project brings together the cutting edges of photographic optics, film technology, and digital processing to create beautiful landscape photographs which contain unprecedented amounts of information. Husband and wife team Graham Flint and Catherine Aves have achieved this technical milestone of ultra-high-resolution imagery of landscape images measuring in the 4000 mega pixel range. "We have been very impressed with the quality and fidelity of the Gigapxl™ images printed with DuPont™ Artistri™ ," stated Flint. He adds, "printing on textiles adds a completely new dimension to our work and we are discussing entirely new ways in which we can showcase our images. We are anxious to learn of the FESPA attendees' reactions to some of our images printed at full size on textiles." Aves added, "Textiles are a wonderful printing substrate and their uses offer new ways for us to display our work."

To best showcase these images, DuPont will have a 3 meter by 6 meter Gigapxl™ image on display in their stand. The company will also print additional Gigapxl™ images on the new DuPont™ Artistri™ 3320 printer during the show. "These images will demonstrate the ability of our new grand format system to print beautiful ultra-high resolution photographic images on textiles." Turner said.

The DuPont™ Artistri™ 3320 and 2020 digital textile printing systems combine over 70 years of DuPont innovation and expertise in textile fibers with its knowledge of digital ink. DuPont™ Artistri™ inks are optimized to print directly onto a wide range of fabrics and are available in formulations that result in dynamic eye catching color and durability. This fully-integrated digital textile printing system includes DuPont™ Artistri™ printers, ink and software. Customers globally are using the system for demanding applications such as flags and banners, soft signage, tension fabric displays, apparel, swimwear and interior finishes such as window coverings and upholstery.

The Gigapxl™ project is an avocational endeavor being pursued by Graham Flint, Catherine Aves and Michael T. Jones that sets entirely new milestones for image information captured by a camera. This privately funded effort has created awe when audiences view these beautiful images and provides a record in the highest detail of the subject matter being photographed.
