DuPont™ Artistri™ Showcases Textile Printing of Ultra-High Resolution Gigapxl™ Project Photography at SGIA '06

DuPont will showcase never before seen images from the Gigapxl™ Project printed with DuPont Artistri™ at the annual Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) trade show (Booth #5314). Attendees are invited to see extraordinary images captured by the world’s highest resolution landscape camera.

“DuPont has exciting images to show at this year’s SGIA conference,” stated Kathleen Hall, global business director, DuPont™ Artistri™. “Once again, we have moved to the next level of performance with digital printing of textiles that highlight the beautiful ultra-high-resolution resolution images from the Gigapxl™ portfolio.  The growth in digital textile printing continues to skyrocket with the rapid acceptance of Artistri™ by customers around the world.” Hall adds, “The flag, banner, trade show graphics, point of sale and advertising markets all have the need for the beautiful, clear color output our system delivers.”

To best showcase Gigapxl™ images, DuPont will have grand format, 10 foot by 20 foot prints on display.  They will also print additional images on the Artistri™ 2020 printer during the four-day show.   “These images demonstrate the ability of our systems to print photographic images directly onto textiles. Our goal is to inspire visitors with the detail and clarity achieved with Artistri™,” said Gary Turner, marketing manager, DuPont™ Artistri™.

The Gigapxl™ Project is an effort that brings together the cutting edges of photographic optics, film technology, and digital processing to create beautiful landscape photographs which contain unprecedented amounts of information.  Husband and wife team Graham Flint and Catherine Aves have for the past few years been perfecting this technical milestone of ultra-high-resolution imagery as they travel in the United States capturing images measuring in the 4000 mega pixel range and larger. “We have been very impressed with the quality and fidelity of the Gigapxl™ images printed with DuPont™Artistri™,” stated Flint.  He added, “printing on textiles adds a completely new dimension to our work and we are discussing entirely new ways in which we can showcase our images. We are anxious to learn of the SGIA attendees’ reaction to some of our images printed at full size on textiles.”

“Textiles are a wonderful printing substrate and their uses can go well beyond that of paper or vinyl, this has opened up new ways for us to display our work and communicate our messages about beautiful, ultra-high-resolution images to our audiences,” added Aves.

DuPont™ Artistri™ combines over 70 years of DuPont innovation and expertise in textile fibers with its knowledge of digital ink.  Unlike other digital systems that print on fabric, DuPont™ Artistri   inks are optimized to print directly onto a wide range of fabrics and are available in formulations that result in dynamic eye-catching color and durability. This fully integrated digital textile printing system includes DuPont™ Artistri™ printers, inks and software. Customers globally are using the system for demanding applications such as flags and banners, POP displays, soft signage, tension fabric displays, apparel, swimwear and interior finishes such as window coverings and upholstery.
