DuPont™ Artistri™ System Enables Marx & Moschner GmbH to Print Massive Panorama of Baroque Dresden

The new DuPont™ Artistri™ 3320 digital printing for textiles system enabled customer, Marx & Moschner GmbH. (Lennestadt, Germany), to produce designer Yadegar Asisi's extraordinary 3,000 square meter panorama of baroque Dresden, Germany. The panorama is on display in Dresden's Drewag Gas Works, a circular building perfectly suited to display this massive image depicting Dresden in 1756.

“Artistri™ delivered the productivity and uncompromising quality that were absolutely important for our company to successfully complete this job for Dresden's 800th birthday celebration,” stated Patricia Beimborn of Marx & Moschner. “The absolute print precision of the Artistri™ 3320 and brilliant ink enabled us to produce this striking display to the strict design and color requirements of the project. The detail in the image is remarkable as the art work pulls you into the multitude of scenes created by Asisi,” Beimborn added.

“The 3.2 meter print width of the Artistri™ 3320 allowed us to produce the 3 meter by 27 meter panels which were sewn together into a 108 meter tube to create the panorama. And direct inkjet printing on the fabric helped us to control the resolution, penetration and color required for this incredible image,” noted Beimborn.

The goal of Asisi's creation is to allow observers to sense life in Dresden during the 18th century through the dramatic and colorful panorama. Visitors stand on a platform elevated 10 meters above the floor. From this vantage point they have a unique view of the city that includes street scenes as well as a birds-eye view of the city from that time. Theatrical lighting illuminates the panorama to simulate the passing of the day from sunrise to sunset. The image of Dresden was created by Yadegar Asisi from a variety of sources including artwork, illustrations and topographical drawings of Dresden that were created during the early and mid-18th century. Over the next two years it is expected that over 500,000 visitors will view this panorama.
