DuPont Imaging Technologies and Hyosung Corporation Successfully Combine Design, Fiber and Innovative Technology to Create Chic Intimate and Swim Fabrics
DuPont Imaging Technologies and Hyosung Corporation today announced their success in a cooperation to present an innovative offering to the world of textiles made possible by DuPont™ Artistri™ digital printing for textiles technology and the latest spandex technology from creora®. The cooperation was driven by the trend for more decorative fabrics in lingerie and more sophisticated swimwear prints, along with the market need for quicker response and custom design in shorter runs.
Beautiful fabrics of creora® printed by the Artistri™ 2020 printer were introduced for the first time in the Hyosung booth at the Interfiliere Lyon intimate apparel show. Visitors to the booth were able to experience the cutting edge capabilities of direct-to-fabric printing with Artistri™ by viewing and handling unique custom-designed swimwear and lingerie concept garments made from a variety of fabrics including a super lightweight fabric using fine denier creora spandex.
“This cooperation was the perfect union of technology and fabric innovation and we are extremely excited with the results,” said Michael Lazzara, market development manager, DuPont™ Artistri™.“Artistri™ is a result of DuPont expertise in color science, digital ink development and the company's long history of innovation in the synthetic fibers industry that began more than 70 years ago. DuPont is uniquely able to understand what it takes to create beautiful printing on fabric, which is evident in the fantastic printed fabrics resulting from the collaboration,” Lazzara said.
“We believe customers will be impressed with the quality and hand of the fabrics printed with Artistri™,” Greg Vas Nunes, president of Hyosung, Europe and the Americas, said. The combination of our innovation in creora® spandex in fabric and the Artistri™ acid dye ink provide outstanding wash fastness, durability and exceptional color penetration properties, making it ideal for the intimate apparel and swimwear markets.”
Digital printing technology opens up new design capabilities around colors, patterns and images. The ability to change colors and designs quickly is one of the major advantages of digital printing over traditional screen-printing methods. In a digital system, design changes are enabled through software, without the need to engrave screens. Color changes are also made at the computer, eliminating the process of cleaning screens and changing inks.
DuPont™ Artistri™ is a fully integrated, production-capable digital printing solution that includes on-demand digital textile printers, brilliant textile ink, and innovative color and control management software, all supported by a world-class technical service organization. Production-quality, samples, strike-offs and short-run printing can be done quickly and cost-effectively on a wide variety of fabrics including silk, cotton, polyester, cotton/poly, nylon/spandex for applications ranging from apparel, swimwear, silk accessories and home furnishings, to flags and banners, in-store displays, and trade show graphics.
The Artistri™ 2020 printer enables high-quality digital production printing of fabrics up to 1.8 meters wide. As a roll-to-roll system, it is equipped with an adhesive print blanket that provides for reliable, fast printing on both woven and knits, including stretch fabrics.
Artistri™ TX software, developed specifically for the textile printing market, allows users to print designs of all types directly from the computer. It includes textile CAD file format capability for handling color-separated files for both flat and continuous tones as well as true color prints. The software provides not just unparalleled color-matching capability, but also repeatability and consistency from run to run.
Brilliant Artistri™ ink meets industry standard fastness requirements and is available in a wide array of colors covering the four major textile chemistries: acid dye, reactive dye, disperse dye and pigment ink. The inks are formulated with the same colorants used in conventional textile screen-printing and are based on DuPont's proprietary ink technology guaranteeing rich, long-lasting tones.
Artistri™ provides manufacturers and designers with new flexibility to create and market prints in the printed textile industry. The technology offers unmatched versatility over traditional printing enabling designers and manufacturers to respond to the demanding needs of their customers with shorter run lengths, faster response times, lower inventories and more designs and colors.
