DuPont™ Teflon® PTFE is chosen for its:
- Mechanical toughness
- Electrical and low-friction properties
DuPont™ Tefzel® ETFE is chosen for its:
- Easy processibility
- High-energy radiation resistance
Tefzel® ETFE and Teflon® PTFE have low dielectric constants and high volume resistivity.
Both Tefzel® ETFE and Teflon® PTFE have approved thermal class ratings (SAE, ISO) for wire insulation. Tefzel® ETFE has a thermal class rating of Class F (392°F/200°C) and Cross-linked Tefzel® ETFE has Class G (437°F /225°C). Teflon® PTFE has a thermal class rating of 437°F to 572°F (225°C to 300°C).
