Chemist Honored for Excellence in Research Leadership

Allisa Gam of DuPont Performance Coatings has received the 2003 Women of Color Technology Award from the Career Communications Group, Inc.  The award was presented at the seventh annual National Women of Color Technology Awards Conference, held October 9 -11 in Atlanta, Ga.  The award is for Research Leadership in recognition of Allisa’s work as a consistent leader in discovering, developing and implementing new technologies.

Allisa is a staff chemist at the Mt. Clemens, Mich., Research and Development Laboratory of DuPont.  Allisa is part of an innovative product development group whose overall mission is to develop new and improved cathodic electrocoat anti-corrosion coatings for the automotive industry.  Electrocoat is a dip-applied primer that is designed to significantly improve the corrosion resistance of automotive substrates.  DuPont is a major supplier of DuPontTM  CorMax® brand cathodic electrocoat to the automotive industry and Allisa plays a significant role in the continuous improvement of the product line. 

She serves as a technical resource to the DuPont South American electrocoat business, providing assistance and guidance to local resources for all chemistry and process related issues for that market.  In addition, she is a member of the DuPont Global Electrocoat Technology Team, assigned to define the chemistry of an optimized global formulation toolbox for electrocoat technology.

Originally from Indonesia, Allisa has been with DuPont for 14 years.  Her research has resulted in 10 patents for DuPont in multiple areas of electrocoat technology.
