On display by DuPont at NPE! Booth 2632, South Hall

With a V-0 UL94 flammability classification, a halogen-free formula and other desirable properties, a new DuPont™ Zytel® HTN high-performance polyamide resin meets emerging requirements of electronic component manufacturers around the world. The new material, a 30 percent glass-reinforced PPA designated as Zytel® HTNFR52G30NH, is making its debut at the NPE 2006 plastics exhibition this week.

The absence of halogen in the new resin fits well with nascent recycling programs for discarded electronic products. Zytel® HTNFR52G30NH also delivers the right property set for electronic connectors, relays, LED (light-emitting diode) components and various other electrical and electronic parts. It can withstand high-temperature circuit assembly methods, including those using lead-free solder, and it has good strength, stiffness and toughness over a wide temperature and humidity range.

Zytel® HTNFR52G30NH also has high tracking resistance needed for high-voltage parts. Its CTI (comparative tracking index) is greater than 600 V, the highest IEC 60112 classification. This may allow closer spacing of current-carrying parts than lower-CTI materials.

Processing productivity is another strength for the new resin. It has excellent thermal stability and can be molded in tooling using water for temperature control.
