Wire and cable products made with DuPont Fluoropolymers are known for their excellent chemical resistance, superior electrical properties, and high service temperatures of up to 260°C (500°F). In addition, Teflon® FEP provides outstanding low-temperature toughness and unique flame resistance.
DuPont Fluoropolymers offer remarkable resistance to high temperature and flames because they have very high melting points and auto-ignition temperatures, as well as exceptional thermal degradation thresholds. Moreover, their flame propagation characteristics, such as rate of heat release and smoke generation, are very low.
DuPont™ Teflon® and Tefzel® fluoropolymer resins have been used successfully for many years for wire insulation and jacketing in plenum-rated LAN cable; coaxial cable; hook-up wire; sensor wires; appliance wire, automotive and heating wire.
