DuPont™ Capstone® Repellents and Surfactants Knowledge Foundation
The DuPont portfolio of surface protection products is based on patented technology that uses short-chain chemistry (six or less fluorinated carbons). This manufacturing technology minimizes the presence or residual unreacted raw materials and by-products, and is supported by extensive environmental, health and safety testing.
- A comprehensive toxicology database on products, raw material(s) and degradation product(s) provides a knowledge foundation to show that DuPont™ Capstone® repellent and surfactant products are safe for workers, consumers and the environment when used as intended.
- A comprehensive evaluation of the toxicology and potential exposure for products, raw materials, and degradation products provides a knowledge foundation for exposure assessment and risk characterization.
- Degradation products, such as perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA) and short-chain fluorotelomer sulfonate (6:2 FTS), do not bioconcentrate and are not bioaccumulative.
- Regulatory bodies, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), provide guidance to chemical manufacturers such as DuPont on the selection of representative compounds for toxicity and environmental fate testing.
DuPont™ Capstone® repellent and surfactant products are listed on global regulatory inventories. For information about specific product hazards, safe storage, handling, use and disposal, consult the product M/SDS. We will work with customers regarding study data to qualify for specific labeling criteria and to assure proper handling, use and disposal.
