Capstone® and Forafac® fluorosurfactant additives can enhance your fire fighting foam.

Fire fighting foams made with DuPont™ Capstone® and DuPont™ Forafac® fluorosurfactant additives extinguish fires quickly and effectively, while reducing burn-back time and offering safe, reliable performance. DuPont offers several different grades that are effective as a key component for foam concentrates.

Designed for use on all types of polar liquid and hydrocarbon fires, DuPont™ Capstone® and Forafac® fluorosurfactants are used globally in a variety of industrial applications, including oil, chemical and aviation, as well as by fire brigades and the military. Our customers choose Capstone® and Forafac® fluorinated surfactants to add superior performance to their fire fighting foams.
 

The Advantages of Capstone® and Forafac® Fluorosurfactants

DuPont™ Capstone® and DuPont™ Forafac® fluorosurfactant additives help decrease the surface tension of aqueous-based liquids to very low levels (15-20 mN/m). Our fluorosurfactant additives allow the formation of a uniform, aqueous film that spreads over the surface of burning polar solvents and hydrocarbons. As a result, Capstone® and Forafac® fluorosurfactants deliver:
  • Rapid extinguishment
  • Significantly reduced risk of burn-back
  • Foam that maintains thermal and chemical stability while in contact with hydrocarbons
  • Increased stability of foam on polar liquids
  • Formation of a physical barrier against flammable vapors


The oleophobic and hydrophilic properties of Capstone® and Forafac® fluorosurfactants make these additives extremely stable — imparting a strong oil-repellency that preserves the foam from fuel contamination.
