How do I choose the right Capstone® repellent for our product?

Which applications are the best uses for DuPont food packaging repellents? 

Versatile Capstone® repellents can be used on paper, paperboard and molded products that require grease and oil resistance. Applications include pet food packaging, microwave popcorn, molded products and food packaging (see chart below.)

Where are Capstone® repellents manufactured?

DuPont manufactures Capstone® repellents at its Chambers Works plant in New Jersey in the USA and at Villers St. Paul in France. Our dual manufacturing facilities give us expanded production capability and supply stability. DuPont™ Capstone® manufacturing facilities are ISO 9001-2008 and ISO 14001-2004 certified.

    What FDA Food Contact Notification clearances exist for Capstone® repellents?

    Capstone® repellents P-620, P-620HS, P-623, and P-625 comply with U.S. food contact substances regulation. They are listed on the U.S. FDA’s Inventory of Effective Food Contact Substance Notifications (FCN) as oil- and grease-resistant treatment for paper and paperboard. See the chart above for additional details.

    Are Capstone® repellents compliant with BfR (Germany), Ministry of Health (P.R. China) and Health Canada?

    Many of our Capstone® repellents are approved for use by regulatory authorities in the countries where they are sold. Please see the chart above.

    Can Capstone® repellents be used in the wet-end paper manufacturing process?

    Yes. The preferred products for wet-end application are Capstone® repellents P-620, P-620HS, P-623, and P-625.

    Can paper treated with Capstone® repellents be heated in a conventional or microwave oven?

    Yes. In the United States, DuPont™ Capstone® repellents P-620, P-620HS, P-623, and P-625 have been classified for oven-heated and microwaveable packaging, such as popcorn bags and fast food wrappers.
