Applying DuPont™ Kitchen & Bath Sealant Enhanced with Teflon® surface protector.

Follow these simple instructions for caulking bathroom and kitchen areas.

Applying DuPont™ Caulks is simple and all of the products easily clean up with just soap and water. DuPont™ Kitchen & Bath Sealant Enhanced with Teflon® surface protector is available in both squeeze tubes and cartridge packaging which requires a caulk gun to apply.

Surface Preparation: 

The area must be thoroughly cleaned before caulking any joint, gap or crack. Surfaces to be caulked must be dry and free of all dirt, dust, oil, mildew, loose paint, and old caulk. Only apply when caulk, surface and air temperatures will remain above 40°F. Do not apply on surfaces that are above 120°F.  Do not apply on exterior surfaces when rain is immediately expected.

Application:

• Clean surface to be caulked.
• For gaps greater than 1/2” deep, use a backer rod.
• Insert caulk tube into the caulk gun.
• Cut the dispensing nozzle at a 45° angle.
• While slowly squeezing the caulk gun trigger, gently push the sealant    nozzle along the gap to be sealed. Ensure complete contact is
   made on both surfaces being sealed.
• Smooth applied bead with a moist cloth.
• Clean tools with soap and water.
• Allow 4 to 6 hours curing time before applying paint.
• Cured bead should be between 1/8” and ½” wide.
• Allow 36 hours curing time before exposing to a wet or
   damp environment.
• Coverage: 54 linear feet for a 3/16” bead (10.1 oz cartridge) and
   29 linear feet for a 3/16” bead (5.5 oz squeeze tube).
• Not intended for areas that will be submerged in water. Keep unused
   from freezing.
• Do not use on surfaces that come in contact with food.

I thought DuPont™ Teflon® was a non-stick surface, does this mean the caulk will not have good adhesion?
No, DuPont™ Kitchen & Bath Sealant Enhanced with Teflon® surface protector has excellent adhesion and is formulated so the DuPont™ Teflon® migrates to the surface of the sealant as it cures, giving the sealant excellent stain and dirt resistance.

Why DuPont™ Kitchen & Bath Sealant Enhanced with Teflon® surface protector over other brands?
DuPont™ Kitchen & Bath Sealant Enhanced with Teflon® surface protector is a premium acrylic.  It has outstanding mold and mildew resistance once it has cured.  The DuPont™ Teflon® surface protector formulation provides excellent stain and dirt resistance.

Does the product have mold and mildew protection?
Yes, all of the DuPont™ Caulk products contain a premium mildewcide, giving them outstanding mold and mildew resistance.

What is a mildewcide?
Mildewcide is a term for chemicals that retard the growth of mold and mildew. The DuPont™ Caulk products contain a premium mildewcide that resists the growth of unsightly mold and mildew in the surface of the caulk after it is cured.

For best results, wait 24 hours before using your tub or shower.

Can the product be painted?
Yes, the product may be painted after it has been allowed to cure for 4 to 6 hours.

Can I use the product on the outside of my house?
Yes, DuPont™ Kitchen & Bath Sealant Enhanced with Teflon® surface protector is a premium caulk that exceeds the rigid ASTM C-834 requirements, and may be used on both interior and exterior applications.  It has excellent adhesion to various substrates including, but not limited to, masonry, brick, concrete and wood.

Can I use it to seal my aquarium?
It is NOT recommended that any of the DuPont™ Caulk products be used in areas that will be immersed in water for long periods of time.  Products specifically designed for pools and aquariums should be used for this type of application.

Is DuPont™ Kitchen & Bath Sealant Enhanced with Teflon® surface protector VOC compliant?
Yes.   All of the DuPont™ Caulk products not only meet the current VOC requirement, but are actually below the lower 2% VOC requirement proposed by the state of California.

What do I use to clean excess product from tools or other surfaces?
All of the DuPont™ Caulk products clean up with just soap and water.
