Customers with as little as 30 gallons of treatable waste can now take advantage of the same comprehensive wastewater treatment services that DuPont Clean Water Technologies provides through SET for shipments by tank truck, railcar, or barge. Developed in response to numerous customer requests, the SET Drum Program enables customers to ship drums or totes of treatable waste directly to our state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility at the Chambers Works site in Deepwater, New Jersey. The Chambers Works facility will accept smaller quantities of the aqueous wastes we currently accept in bulk, including:

  • Strong acids (such as nitric)
  • Oxidizers
  • Ignitables
  • Corrosives (acids and caustics)
  • Halogenated and nonhalogenated solvent/water mixtures
  • Organics (including ignitable, medium-concentration organics, such as D001 high-TOC solvent/water mixtures)
  • Inorganics (metals, salts, and ammonia)
  • Sulfides and mercaptans
  • Sludges (pumpable/flowable waste streams)
  • Virtually every RCRA-listed D, F, K, P, and U hazard waste codes

We also offer a wide range of pretreatment options, including heavy metals, sulfides, and F006 precursors.

The DuPont Advantage

When you work with SET, you have the assurance of knowing that you're dealing with a fully integrated business unit of DuPont, a $25 billion corporation that operates hundreds of chemical process sites worldwide. As owners/operators ourselves, we share the mindset of the manufacturing community, which helps us provide better service and proactive solutions to problems that arise in production. Once your conforming waste is accepted for treatment, DuPont takes full responsibility for its ultimate disposal.

Proven Technology for Reliable Results

Our Chambers Works wastewater treatment plant—the world's largest commercial industrial facility of its kind—has a 15-year track record of service to both internal and external customers. Our innovative pretreatment options, combined with DuPont's patented Powdered Activated Carbon Treatment (PACT) process, ensure that all waste streams are treated in the most cost-effective and environmentally sound manner possible. What's more, SET customers always have access to staff technical support, for help in solving difficult treatment issues.

Shipping Options

SET can accept waste in DOT-qualified polyethylene, steel, or fiber drums and totes. Drums can contain as little as 30 gallons of treatable waste. We will accept standard totes of 275 gallons; other sizes will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Overpacked drums also can be accepted for treatment.

Drum customers have the option of either establishing approvals and shipping directly to DuPont, or–for those with less than truckload quantities of drums–DuPont can refer them to an experienced environmental service company to transport the containers to DuPont for treatment and disposal.
