The smooth seamlessness of Corian® is a blank canvas that asks to be decorated. With new technology and evolving techniques, this is becoming increasingly possible.
Intricate designs can be carved into Corian® to exact specifications using CNC machinery, or the material can be moulded to create raised textures and patterns on its surface – a technique known as ‘Corian® Bas Relief’. Using another recently-developed technique – image transfer by sublimation – a coloured image can be embedded into a piece of Corian® and then fixed through a heating process.
Developed by DuPont, these technologically-advanced techniques enable designers to customise their designs with logos and graphics in ways not previously possible, and have wide scope across many commercial sectors.
