Kasper Schwartz, aged 25, fifth year design student from Kolding Design school, decided to make “Ceratia” a wireless universal charging unit.

“Nowadays portable electronic devices like mobile phones, media players, cameras and tablet computers, have for many become an integrated part of daily life. But common to all these devices are they need to be charged, and some often daily.
My solution is called Ceratia (Latin word for leaf), and it’s a triangular-shaped dish, with built-in wireless (inductive) charging technology. This makes it very easy and convenient to charge battery powered electronic devices, without having to deal with cords, power adapters and plugs. There already exists a number of wireless charging products, but they are not very décor-friendly.
With this in mind, I’ve focused to accentuate and differentiate the design of Ceratia. By using a dish-shape, it can easily be included in a home or office interior, similar to a common dish or bowl.
Using DuPont™ Corian® high-tech surface as the core material for the dish, with the many qualities it holds in terms of durability, shaping, coloring and tactility, it serves as an ideal material that clearly improves and heightens the overall perception of the product”
Finally the Ceratia also has environmental advantages, when compared to regular power adapters. Since it only holds one adapter for multiple devices, it automatically doses the exact amount of power needed to charge each device, as well as turns off when all devices are fully charged. This removes the likelihood of forgetting to unplug the power adapter as normal - easing the charging process and reducing power consumption.”
