Corian® Takes Center Stage at New Delhi Airport
Continuing its efforts to go beyond counter top to applications that meet customer needs and solve their problems, Surfaces business, India will execute the prestigious work at Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL). The business set out its path of market driven innovation in the last couple of years with a parallel strategy to explore unlimited possibilities of Corian®. The business developed its own resources, including internal design capability and training students from vocational institutes on fabrication to build the pipeline for execution.
DIAL project is a result of simple market driven innovation. The surfaces team incessantly worked for a span of over 2 years, addressing the tremendous challenges and complexities posed by the scale and nature of this project. The total DIAL order is worth about 1.4 million USD in value. About 727 Corian® vanities would be installed in the airport along with 1000 ledges (cladding behind the Urinal / WC). This will be the first ever airport in the world with so many vanities made of Corian®. The main highlight of the Airport project is vertical cladding application. Corian® will be cladded vertically over the columns to the height of 24 meter height (about 80 ft) on 134 Columns. This is a unique application and is one of the largest Corian® cladding works in any part of the world.
Focusing on non-conventional volume applications like vertical cladding in future Corian® will provide aesthetic, functional and green solutions for our buildings. Airport project demonstrates Corian(R) India's vision to go beyond countertop, create a culture of innovation, develop new skills and create new market space.
