Beautiful vivid kitchenware from recycled Corian® scraps in Japan
With a strong belief that Corian® can do much more than countertops and furniture, Ms. Horikawa, owner of Daughter Designs, applied recycled Corian® scraps in her kitchenware collection. The main products from Daughter Designs are cutting boards with national flag patterns, and cake stands in stripes or polka dots patterns.
Being raised in a family of Corian® fabricator, Corian® is not new to Ms. Horikawa. Therefore, she could master the art of Corian® in her unique design. All colors of Corian® pass the NSF standard 51, i.e. safe for direct food contact, which is important for eateries and kitchenware. In addition, recycled Corian® scraps were used as the base material for the products. Stains could be easily removed by cleanser and scratches could be repaired without marks. Recycled Corian® appeared as if they were totally new. Moreover, different colors could be jointed seamlessly by the designer’s imagination. They turned scrap material into valuable and trendy interior goods. It is not possible without the very unique features of Corian®.
