Corian® Design Award Australia – e2-OPSM (Winner of the Commercial Category)

OPSM's Eye Hub is unique in its industry and incorporates a broad range of both features and services. Through the use of compelling interactive components, targeting all five of the customer’s senses, the brand experience needed to establish a deeper dialogue with consumers and tailor services to their needs as they browsed the store. The e2 team was tasked with reinvigorating the optical eyewear category by creating the first ever experiential eye-care store in Australia.

With interactive mirrors, luxury frames and sunglasses, state of the art optometric equipment, full-time ophthalmologists and a kids zone. The striking design offers the best in technology and environment, making it a standout in experiential retail segment. Corian® Bisque was selected the colour of choice and applied to the point of sale waterfall countertops; on the accessories benchtop; product display countertops; dispensing desktop & returns; educational booth countertops; breakout benchtop and shelf.

From the outset, the aim of detailing this project is not only to create interesting designs but also to achieve a high quality of finish. The Corian® properties of seamless, warm to the touch, thermoformable, hygienic and design possibilities allowed e2 to develop an overall design concept into free flowing surfaces over large areas.  According to  e2’s Project Manager Thomas Kiang, ‘Apart from the excellent properties of Corian®, the fact that corners & edges were able to be freely smoothened was a big advantage in allowing us to showcase our attention to detail’.
