Triton™ C now registered for additional weed control

New tank-mix also approved

Cereal growers needing to control larger cleavers or annual sow thistle in cereals just gained some extra flexibility with Triton™ C herbicide tank-mix.

“Triton™ C just got better with cleaver control up to four-whorls and annual sow thistle control added to the label,” says DuPont Cereals and Oilseeds Product Manager Travis Schoonbaert. “And to remind growers about this product’s strength on cleavers, we have renamed it Triton™ C.”

Triton™ C also has a new tank-mix partner registered since last season: It is now registered with Horizon® for convenient, one-pass broadleaf and grass control.

In addition to cleavers and annual sow thistle, Triton™ C controls or suppresses 27 other broadleaf weeds in spring wheat, durum wheat and feed barley.  Other tough weeds controlled by Triton™ C include hemp-nettle, chickweed, wild buckwheat, stinkweed, flixweed and narrow-leaved hawk’s-beard.

With multiple modes of action for broadleaf control, Triton™ C is an excellent resistance management tool. It contains three active ingredients (quinclorac, thifensulfuron methyl and tribenuron methyl) from two different groups (Groups 2 and 4), each of which has significant activity contributing to the control of cleavers.

“In fact, Triton™ C is the only in-crop cereal herbicide that will actively manage resistance in cleavers,” Schoonbaert adds. “Best of all, it won’t compromise your wild oat control.”

Research work done by DuPont demonstrates excellent crop safety when Triton™ C is applied from the two to five-leaf stage in spring and durum wheat and from the two to four-leaf stage in barley grown for feed purposes only. There are no re-cropping restrictions for wheat, barley, canola, field peas and sunflowers. Flax and lentils may be grown two years after a Triton™ C application, provided they are planted in heavier soils with high organic matter.

Available from your local crop protection retailer this spring, Triton™ C is a Dry Flowable (DF) product that comes in a convenient 40-acre package.

Triton™ C will also be eligible for a Virtual Pak instant discount when purchased with Puma® Super as a tank-mix option.

Triton™ C is part of the arsenal of broadleaf products from DuPont that are specialists in controlling the “Wildest Weeds of the West” – the top 17 annual broadleaf weeds growers treat, according to Stratus market research.
