DuPont™ Express® SG can now be applied before seeding pulse crops

Growers needing to clean up their fields with a pre-seed burn-off before planting a pulse crop will have a new option this spring: they can add DuPont™ Express®  SG herbicide to turn up the heat on their glyphosate.

Express®  SG has received approval for application before seeding of field peas, dry beans, fababeans, lupins and soybeans.

"This new registration can help pulse growers maximize their returns because it gives them a better alternative than glyphosate alone to clean up tough weeds in their fields before seeding," comments Travis Schoonbaert, DuPont Cereals and Oilseeds Product Manager.

Express®  SG boosts glyphosate to improve control of tough broadleaf weeds such as dandelion, narrow-leaved hawk's-beard, flixweed and all types of volunteer canola.

Express® SG is powered by Solumax™ soluble granule technology, so although it is a dry herbicide it works just like a liquid. Express® SG dissolves completely into solution when mixed with water, resulting in faster, easier tank clean-out and improved plant absorption for more consistent weed control.

While Express® SG has a fit for many fields being planted to pulses, it is not a fit for every field. Growers should avoid using Express®  SG where there are coarse-textured soils that have less than three percent organic matter, or where fields have varying soils, gravelly or sandy areas or in fields with eroded knolls.

The active ingredient in Express® SG is tribenuron methyl, a Group 2 broadleaf herbicide. Express® SG tank-mixed with glyphosate controls or suppresses 24 weeds and works well, even under cool conditions.

In addition to the pulse crops just added to the label, spring wheat, durum or barley can be seeded 24 hours after a pre-seed burn-off of Express®  SG and glyphosate. For chem-fallow and fall applications, any of these crops can be planted within 24 hours. Two months after application, growers can also seed canola, flax, lentils or alfalfa.

Express® SG is registered for use with Roundup WeatherMAX®, Roundup Transorb®, Roundup® Original, Roundup® Dry, Touchdown® iQ or Touchdown® 600.
