PioneerĀ® Brand Canola Seed Will Soon be Available at Many More Retail Locations in Western Canada
Canola growers in Western Canada soon will be able to purchase Pioneer® brand canola seed at select local independent and co-op retailers. A new agreement between DuPont Canada and Pioneer Hi-Bred will provide hundreds of additional retail outlets with access to an exclusive line of Pioneer® brand canola products through DuPont Canada.
“Canola growers will find it easier to purchase high-yielding Pioneer® brand canola products than ever before,” said Ian Grant, president and business director of Pioneer Hi-Bred in Canada. “Pioneer Hi-Bred is committed to continuing to grow and expand our canola seed business in Western Canada and this agreement will take grower access to our canola genetics to a whole new level.”
“We are excited to be able to give growers the option to buy exclusive Pioneer® brand canola seed at the same location where they are already buying DuPont crop protection products,” said Thor Cruse, business director for DuPont Canada Crop Protection. “This agreement allows us to serve those growers better by giving them access to a new seed choice at their preferred independent or co-op retailer.”
Currently, Pioneer® brand canola seed is available through independent Pioneer Hi-Bred sales representatives and Viterra retailers. Pioneer Hi-Bred remains committed to these existing distribution channels and to helping them continue to grow their businesses. “Both our own Pioneer Hi-Bred sales reps and the Viterra retailers remain vital to our success,” Grant confirmed.
These channels will each continue to have access to their own exclusive lineup of high-yielding canola products. The new channel will also have its own exclusive Pioneer® brand canola products.
“Our canola pipeline is so strong that we have more top-yielding canola hybrids available than we can practically bring to market through our current distribution channels,” Grant said. “Not many companies would be able to provide three separate distribution channels with unique, exclusive, competitive and high-performing canola products.”
The revenue generated through sales in the new channel will help support continued investment in research to develop new and better Pioneer® brand canola products and traits for Western Canada.
The new agreement is also a win for the DuPont Ag and Nutrition platform, allowing the crop protection and seed portions of the company to work together to provide additional value to both retailer and farmer customers with enhanced seed and crop protection offerings.
These new retailers will have Pioneer brand canola hybrids in their warehouses in time for the start of the selling season this fall.
