Growers and applicators who apply herbicides by air will have a new option for broad spectrum broadleaf weed control this season. DuPont™ Refine® SG has received regulatory approval for aerial application for control of 5-leaf wild buckwheat and a large number of other broadleaf weeds.
“Aerial applicators and growers have been asking for this solution for a few years, so this will be good news for them,” comments Travis Schoonbaert, DuPont Canada Cereals and Oilseeds Product Manager. “Refine® SG is one of the most broad spectrum broadleaf products on the market today – it’s a proven performer for a wide range of broadleaf weed challenges, including 5-leaf wild buckwheat.”
Refine® SG is the cornerstone of a good weed control program, controlling or suppressing a total of 29 broadleaf weeds. It controls several weeds that are becoming more problematic for growers and that other herbicides may miss, like narrow-leaved hawk’s-beard, flixweed, hemp-nettle and chickweed.
Refine® SG is part of a new generation of sulfonylurea herbicides that are powered by Solumax™ soluble granule technology. Key benefits of Refine® SG include rapid absorption into the plant for consistent weed control; one hour rainfastness; and sprayer clean-out that is faster, easier and more consistent. Plus, it breaks down quickly in the soil so there are no re-cropping restrictions the following year.
Refine® SG powered by Solumax™ is a dry herbicide that works like a liquid – dissolving completely into a clear solution when mixed with water. As a result, Refine® SG won’t settle-out in the spray tank, less active adheres to the sides of the tank and particles won’t clog nozzles or become trapped in filters or other pinch points. That means it is easier to remove product residue from the tank, minimizing the impact to subsequently sprayed crops like peas or canola.
