DuPont™ Harmony® K herbicide tank-mix has received registration for use on durum wheat to control kochia (including Group 2-resistant biotypes) and 20 other hard-to-kill broadleaf weeds along with wild oats and green foxtail.
“We will also begin introducing Harmony® K with new Solumax™ soluble granule (SG) technology this season,” comments Travis Schoonbaert, Cereals and Oilseeds Product Manager for DuPont Canada. Not all Harmony® K on the market this year will have the SG technology. The plan is to have all production include Solumax™ soluble granules by 2009.
The Solumax™ soluble granule technology delivers control of 5-leaf wild buckwheat as well as dandelions (fall and spring rosettes that are less than 15 cm). The updated tank-mix will also provide more consistent control of Group 2-resistant kochia.
“With these improvements, we have several very compelling reasons for growers to choose Harmony® K for control of tough broadleaf and grassy weeds,” Schoonbaert adds.
Harmony® K is a one-pass herbicide tank-mix that comes in a convenient 40-acre box.
With four active ingredients from three different herbicide groups, Harmony® K offers excellent control of broadleaf and grassy weeds. “The two broadleaf groups in Harmony® K both have significant activity on kochia, making the product a highly effective resistance management tool,” Schoonbaert says.
Harmony® K is safe on the crop and can be applied from the 2-5 leaf stage of spring and durum wheat. It breaks down quickly in the soil and has no re-cropping restrictions the following year.
