For the 2008 growing season, caraway, dill and coriander growers will be able to use DuPont^™ Lorox^® L herbicide for control of a broad spectrum of broadleaf weeds as well as green foxtail.  

“This is good news for growers because weed control choices in specialized crops like these are often much more limited than in the main western crops,” comments Travis Schoonbaert, DuPont Canada Cereals and Oilseeds Product Manager. “This sometimes makes weed control a challenge.”

Lorox^® L is already approved for barley, oats and spring wheat (mixed with MCPA) and has been a mainstay in the fruit and vegetable industries across Canada for some time.

A Group 7 herbicide, with the active ingredient linuron, DuPont^™ Lorox^® L is rainfast two hours after application. A 10-litre jug of Lorox^® L will treat 45 to 57 acres, depending on whether the low rate or the high rate is used.   It can be applied from the    2- to 4-leaf stage of the crop. Any crop can be planted in the field four months after application.
