Studies shows that methomyl, the active ingredient in Lannate® insecticide, has a very low impact on the environment when applied according to label direction. In addition, methomyl has been found to be non persistent in studies on plant, soil, forest and soil ecosystem, aquatic plants and animals and water. Lannate® is toxic to wildlife and fish.

MODE OF ACTION
Insects sprayed with Lannate® exhibit the following symptoms:
- Convulsions
- Hyperexicitation
- Paralysis
- Tremors
Lannate® inhibits the breakdown of acetylcholine, a chemical in the nervous system of insects, resulting in uncontrolled transmission of nerve impulses. Once insects are affected, they are unable to behave normally or feed on crops.

With its unique dual mode of action, it kills eggs of insects by direct contact and also has a quick knock down action on its larvae. Contacted eggs generally do not survive past the blackhead stage and larvae that do hatch from treated eggs often only partially emerge before dying.
Direct contact is the most effective method of control because Lannate® rapidly enters the insect through the cuticle or intersegmental membranes but ingestion of treated plant tissue also proves toxic to pests.
KEY ATTRIBUTES
- Broad spectrum control
- Quick knock down action
- Short residual - safe for food and environment
- Extensive compatibility with other insecticides
- Low dermal toxicity, short re-entry period
- Reversible toxicity, metabolites do not accumulate in the body
- Resistance management tool-use with insecticide with different mode of action
CROP SAFETY
Lannate® has been found to be non-phytotoxic to a wide range of crops when used at labeled rates; however, under certain conditions some crop injury might occur to the following crops: alfalfa, apples, collards, ornamentals and spinach. In addition, some cotton varieties treated with Lannate® may redden, especially if cotton is under stressed conditions. If cotton has reddened excessively, alternate Lannate® with other insecticides or discontinue use. Refer to product labels for proper use on all crops.
