DuPont DeLisle to Lead Efforts for Charity Walk June 20, 2006 - Three members of the DuPont DeLisle team will be working to help end heart disease and stroke by leading fund‐raising efforts for the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk this year. Pat Nichols has been chosen to be the Chair for the American Heart Walk, Duane Wilson is the Industry Leader for Manufacturing and Margueritte Mayfield is the DuPont Team Leader.
The event is set to take place on October 28, 2006 at Jones Park in Gulfport. The fundraising goal for the “Survivors…Live To Tell” themed walk is $275,000. The American Heart Walk is the organization’s premier national walking event. This nationwide, non‐competitive walk brings together participants of all ages from throughout the community and takes place in more than 850 communities throughout the U.S. Walkers raise money by soliciting donations from family, friends and co‐workers.
In addition to walker income, funds are also raised through sponsorship, matching gifts, warp‐around fund‐raising activities and other corporate contributions. Most walkers are part of company teams made up of about ten walkers each. They are organized by a Team Captain or a Company Leader. Walkers earn great prizes depending on the amount of money they raise. Margueritte will lead the DuPont Team in fundraising efforts in and around the plant; stay posted to The Connector for ways you can participate.
In his role as Industry Leader for Manufacturing, Duane is assigned the task of recruiting other companies to participate in the American Heart Walk and its fundraising efforts “We’re going to need the entire DeLisle Team to help out with fundraising,” Pat said. “I certainly hope many of our DeLisle employees will participate in the Walk as well as the events leading up to it. Raising money for this organization is critical in defeating heart disease and stroke.”
