Federal School Official Visits DeLisle PlantPat Nichols meets with Dr. Hancock to discuss our area's schools. August 22, 2006 - Dr. Anne Hancock, President Bush’s appointee as our region’s representative of Secretary of Education Margaret Spelling, recently visited Harrison and Hancock County Schools as well as the DeLisle plant.  Dr. Hancock is assigned with the role of being the federal liaison to all schools receiving federal funding and responsible to administer the “No Child Left Behind” and other federal school programs.

Hancock was in the area to address faculty at several schools as they re-opened for the 2006-2007 school year.  She paid a visit to the DeLisle facility at our invitation to learn more about the plant and our impact on the area’s schools through funding and volunteerism.

While visiting the plant, she met with Pat Nichols and Duane Wilson.  She was provided with an overview of the TiO2-making process and then the group discussed future employment opportunities, funding and the plant’s overall contributions to local schools; particularly the Pass Christian facilities.
