Red Beans and Rice Cook-off
April 23, 2007 - The DuPont DeLisle defending 2006 Champions did it again, out-cooking more than 30 teams and winning both the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice Awards at the annual Red Beans and Rice Cook-off.
This year, the team of Greg Dossett, Ginger Ladner, Karen Seiter, Joan Alford, Jeff Larsen and Berinda Logan won both categories in the business division, and added a third prize to their collection. The cornbread award goes to the best cornbread in all divisions, this year’s winner was the DuPont Team.
Jeff Larsen was unable to attend this year’s event due to illness but it was through his efforts and great spirit that the team prevailed. In Jeff's absence, his family cooked the award-winning beans and cornbread.
The event was held Monday, May 23rd at the Hancock County VFW Hall and was sponsored by the Hancock County Relay for Life. The proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
