Federal Agency Finds “No Apparent Health Hazard” in St. Louis Bay Blue Crabs

A report released by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, concludes that there is “no apparent health hazard” presented to the public by the consumption of typical levels of blue crab meat caught in the St. Louis Bay.

DuPont Fulfills Voluntary Pledge to MDEQ to Test Dioxin Air Emissions

DuPont’s DeLisle plant fulfilled a voluntary pledge made to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality to test air emissions of dioxin and dioxin-like compounds. The testing is an important part of DuPont’s corporate plan to reduce the creation of dioxin and dioxin-like compounds by 90 percent by the end of 2007.

By mid-August, a flood wall at the DuPont DeLisle, Miss., plant will rise to a height of 30 feet to protect the plant from future hurricanes. The company will spend $15 to 20 million to top the existing 20-foot earthen levee.
