Product Stewardship

We can help in all aspects of a customer’s needs to handle DMS safely. We feel it is important to work closely with our customers in the early stages of design discussions. Specific customer assistance includes:

  • Providing product literature, such as Properties, Uses, Storage and Handling bulletins to assist with initial project scope

  • Reviewing piping and instrumentation drawings

  • Participating in design and process hazards reviews

  • Inspecting unloading and storage facilities prior to the first delivery

  • Monitoring the first delivery to ensure proper procedures are followed

  • Assisting with employee training programs

  • Providing routine inspections with follow-up written recommendations to improve safe handling

  • Technical consultation at any time on any subject regarding DMS such as:
    • materials of construction
    • industrial hygiene programs
    • safety, health and environmental regulations
    • process vent scrubbers, flares, other equipment
    • the latest recommendations on pumps, gaskets, hoses, etc.
    • waste treatment facilities
    • emergency procedures
    • personal protective equipment

Adopt-A-Customer Program

The program is run by DuPont Belle Plant operators for clients with questions and concerns. The Belle operators are available 24 hours a day. They will conduct plant visits and training, and, if you are a new customer, the sale of DMS will depend on your facility qualifying for safe practices prior to our shipping DMS. We are very confident in our program and the people who run it.

TERP -- Transportation Emergency Response Program

The DuPont Belle Plant is home to a world-class TERP team. They respond to any emergency in North America. They have dedicated vehicles and equipment to coordinate emergencies. They are specifically trained and provide training throughout the year. They are available 24 hours a day.

Technical Service Response

The DuPont Belle Plant does not shut down. It is manned 24 hours a day. That means technical support from the people who work with DMS on a daily basis. The same group of people are responsible for conducting field surveys for DMS customers. Every two years a DMS client facility may participate in a survey to assess the delivery, handling and process of DMS.

First Order Assessment

All of our customers get a personal phone contact that begins with a sample request. A site visit is arranged for all new customers. The site visit is designed to help new clients understand the preparation and safe handling procedures necessary for DMS. No bulk sale of the product will occur until minimum, identified safety standards have been verified.
