Where do I learn about DuPont history?
What is the DuPont process for innovation?
DuPont invests more than $1 billion a year on research and development (R&D) in multiple disciplines and is home to one of the world's largest industrial R&D facilities, the Experimental Station. The result of such sustained R&D efforts is discontinuous innovation, the sudden appearance of a major breakthrough in technology that can yield entirely new products, processes, or services. Results occur only after great difficulty and long perseverance, and involve the interaction of technological research and market development. Collaborative R&D with other companies, and the licensing of intellectual assets (property) are also increasingly playing a role in the process.
For more perspective on our approaches to technical development, see DuPont Science.

How is DuPont mindful of environmental and social issues in the workplace?
In our mission to achieve sustainable growth, decreasing the environmental footprint along the value chains in which we operate is the balance to increasing shareholder and societal value. We will achieve sustainable growth through three strategies: 1) Integrated Science, 2) Knowledge Intensity, and 3) Productivity/Six Sigma. This will be accomplished through a variety of initiatives, such as offering our safety and health expertise externally, using productivity measures to achieve operating efficiency, or through Integrated Science approaches to address human needs. Internally, that commitment is reflected in the guiding principles overseeing ethical business practices and respectful treatment of employees.
For more on our social and environmental initiatives, see SocialCommitment. For more on Sustainable Growth and its progress, see the latest Sustainable Growth report. For more on our perspectives on specific environmental and industry issues, see our Position Statements.
