DuPont supports the work of CEPESMA

Asturias, Spain, 1 Feb. 2007 - DuPont has decided to donate to CEPESMA the total amount of the award obtained by the Asturias site from their corporate headquarters for their achievements in reducing wastes. Luis Laria, responsible person from CEPESMA was who picked-up the check given by Enrique Macian, Asturias site Gral. Manager, counting with the presence of Mr. Carlos Huerta, Mgr. of the operational plant that obtained the recognition.
“What attracted us from CEPESMA was their commitment to the preservation o fan ecosystem, the marine land that even if it’s very closet o us, it still long forgotten. Their work puts a voice to our coasts, its flora and fauna that has been present longer than us” said Enrique Macian.
When picking up the award, Luis Laria declared “this donation will help in the development of the Project ‘Aloctom’ dedicated to the study of local species that live or are captured in waters of the Asturias Cantabrian Sea, maintaining two research lines. Two aspects will be studied: their eating habits as well as the variant marine passages and their repercussion in the localization of the same”. This project, already in first phase, means the follow-up, registration and study of more than 380 fish and cephalopods from other latitudes in our waters during last year.
Carlos Huerta assured that “the Project in course by CEPESMA fills an empty and important space in regards to the protection of our environment, raising awareness in kids on the need to act. Asturias is lucky for its biodiversity, but it’s important to take care of it so that it continues existing in the future. We all can and should add our small grain of sand in this effort, from business, community, homes and social stand points”
In the past, the Asturias site has received various DuPont Corporate awards that has always dedicated to collaborate with different entities at the Principality, the most recent ones have been the Association of Autoctonous Animal stocks, or the Novatex labour insertion program. These initiatives are part of the Social Corporate Responsibility framework that DuPont maintains in each of the communities where their operations are located.
