Holesov, 14th of October – Today DuPont opened a new production operation in the Czech Republic - an investment of $14 million. DuPont Butacite® G ( Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) interlayer-sheet), produced by DuPont in this new facility, is used in the production of laminated glass structures – a proven solution for the automotive and construction industry and a technology providing new solutions to the fast growing photovoltaic industry. DuPont Butacite® G is made of 100% recycled PVB material and provides an environmentally responsible alternative to virgin PVB products.
“This milestone investment in Holesov shows DuPont’s commitment to Central and Eastern Europe, to the Glass Laminated Solutions business and to environmental sustainability”, said Stephen Cox, vice president, DuPont Glass Laminating Solutions. “It represents DuPont moving further into Central and Eastern Europe and contributing to these economies. In terms of environmental benefit, the patented technology used to produce Butacite® G at this facility substantially reduces the amount of scrap material that otherwise would need to be landfilled or incinerated. Customers value having such an offering which reduces their environmental footprint, while also fulfilling the economical and quality requirements of a very competitive market.
“For more than 20 years DuPont has continuously invested in the region” said Sona Krausova, Country Leader, the Czech Republic. “More recently, we have opened our Paving Centre in Prague to help our customers understand and implement DuPont innovative value proposition for road design in the Eastern and Central Europe, Middle East and Africa Region. To bring construction applications closer to architects we designed a Construction Showroom in our Prague headquarter as well” – Sona underlines. “The Holesov location is ideal to distribute our products in every local, European and worldwide direction. We find the Czech market as one with growth potential as well as having a perspective to become a hub for DuPont in Central Europe” – she adds.
Jiri Malota, DuPont Production Facility Director concluded, “This DuPont plant provides about 70 jobs. We are proud of our contribution to the Zlin Region and the economic development of Holesov. Due to the perfect collaboration with the local authorities we were able to achieve our plan and to build the site in a very short timeframe. Our production lines are now ready to serve the market from this new promising location.”
