Edgemoor Community Center Receives $7,800 Grant from DuPont Community Fund
Funds Will Support Science-Based Program for Local Area Youth
The Edgemoor Community Center has one more reason to celebrate this holiday season thanks to support from the DuPont Community Fund.
Mike Welch, Edge Moor Plant Manger, recently presented Shawn Stevens, executive director of the Edgemoor Community Center, a $7800 check during the community center's annual board of directors' appreciation event. The grant will support an after-school science-based camp emphasizing the impact of science on everyday life, science related careers, and the role of science in improving the environment. DuPont Edge Moor employees will provide science demonstrations and support local field trips as part of the camp curriculum.
This grant is one of many projects worldwide being supported by the DuPont Community Fund, a program that has provided more than $2 million for innovative programs that address community sustainability in the areas of Social Progress, Economic Success and Environmental Excellence.
"We are extremely proud to partner with the Edgemoor Community Center and contribute to the great work the community center provides the Edgemoor community," said Welch.
Stevens appreciates the continued support the community center receives from the DuPont Edge Moor team. "This grant provides us the means to reach out and touch the lives of children in our community, and for that we really thank the Edge Moor team and DuPont."
