The following is provided as a starting point formulation for a PVC wire coating compound modified with Elvaloy®, a permanent flexibilizer that resists migration. Elvaloy® has been shown to improve low-temperature flexibility, strength and elongation. It also has shown improved chemical resistance versus liquid plasticizers.

At constant hardness, Elvaloy® HP gives your compound:
- A lower brittle point,
- Higher tensile strength, and
- More elongation.
And if you want to increase the alumina trihydrate (ATH) for improved limiting oxygen index (LOI), you still maintain the improved properties. At constant tensile strength, you gain elongation; at constant elongation, you gain tensile strength, using Elvaloy® HP versus triisononyl trimellitate (TINTM).
