Thermal Insulation Maintenance ServicesBy performing the right “insulation” activities at the right time, you’ll increase energy efficiencies and process effectiveness. You also minimize corrosion under insulation (CUI). If the state of your plant’s insulation is typical, more than 19% of your existing insulation is damaged. Not only could that be costing you thousands of dollars every year, but you’re risking a process or safety upset caused by the corrosion under insulation that you can’t see.

Maximizing energy efficiency and minimizing corrosion under insulation is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

  1. First, you have to keep insulation dry.
  2. Next, you need to develop a schedule to make early minor repairs. Making early repairs is far more cost effective then waiting until the insulation is so damaged that it requires extensive removal and replacement, particularly if your existing insulation contains asbestos.
  3. Third, register for the DuPont Thermal Insulation Maintenance Services™ (TIMS™), which can help you maintain your insulation in a more cost-effective manner.

Our TIMS™ consultants are specialists in condition-based strategic program development. They will inventory your existing insulated assets, help you identify damaged insulation and CUI concerns, and develop a program that prioritizes repairs.

Using your plant’s cost of produced energy and the DuPont calculated cost for each identified existing insulation repair, we will determine the Net Return on Investment (NROI). We can then outline multi-year, Practical Insulation Packages to maximize your NROI opportunities. We also consider any process control, personnel protection, and freeze protection repairs identified during the survey and integrate them into the program.

If your facility is old enough, your original insulation design parameters may have been based on relatively cheap energy costs. At your request, we will provide a “snap shot” analysis of your original design relative to today’s energy costs. If your energy losses are large enough, you may consider specific process system upgrades to maximize total insulated asset efficiencies, not just prioritized repairs to damaged locations.
