DuPont Fire Extinguishants presented its extensive portfolio of DuPont™ FE clean agent fire extinguishants at the third annual Mexico Fire & Safety Expo, a global event that brings together fire, security and electrical safety professionals from Mexico. The expo was held by the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) at the Centro Banamex Center in Mexico City on Nov. 15-17, 2006.
DuPont™ FE clean agent fire extinguishants cease the combustion process through heat absorption and chemical interaction at a molecular level to extinguish fires quickly and minimize the damage caused by smoke and flames. To avoid the effects of water fire suppression methods or dry chemical agents, which can be just as devastating as fire to sensitive electronic equipment, historical artifacts, or other objects and structures vulnerable to water or chemical damage, FE clean agents are an effective alternative. DuPont™ FE clean agent fire extinguishants are electrically non-conductive, non-corrosive and free of residue, making them ideal for effectively extinguishing fires – particularly in industries that rely heavily on technology, such as healthcare, financial services and manufacturing – and significantly reducing the potential for business downtime, data loss, damage to high-value equipment and personal injury in the event of a fire.
"DuPont offers a broad portfolio of clean agent fire extinguishants to protect what matters most – people, assets and the environment – in a range of applications," said Greg M. Rubin, global business manager, Fluorochemical Specialties. "From libraries and museums, to hospitals, high-tech manufacturing environments and data centers, we’re putting our science to work with DuPont™ FE. DuPont has been a leader in fire protection for more than 35 years, and we’re pleased to participate here at the Mexico Fire and Safety Expo."
The portfolio of DuPont™ FE clean agent fire extinguishants includes:
- DuPont™ FE-36™ – suitable for use in portable fire extinguishers, and ideal to protect computer rooms, telecommunication facilities, process control rooms, museums, archives, hospitals and laboratories.
- DuPont™ FE-227™ – ideal for new applications and the leading chemical agent replacement for Halon. Designed to flood an enclosure, FE-227™ should be used where agents such as water, dry chemical, and carbon dioxide are unacceptable because they cause damage to electronic equipment or present a safety risk to people.
- DuPont™ FE-13™ – the safest for protecting areas where people are present. FE-13™ is effectively used in normally occupied areas such as electrical control rooms, flammable liquid processing areas and mobile communication facilities.
- DuPont™ FE-25™ – often recommended for use in museums, libraries and historical sites. In existing systems, FE-25™ replaces Halon 1301 with minimal modifications, making it the most cost effective fire extinguishant.
DuPont™ FE clean agent fire extinguishants are an environmentally acceptable alternative to Halon. They can be used in new applications or replace Halon in existing systems with minimal system modifications. For more information about DuPont Fire Extinguishants, visit www.cleanagents.dupont.com.
