Portable Fire Extinguishers with DuPont™ FE-36™ Raise Safety Standards

April 2005 -- Duran Company’s Fire Cleaner™ brand portable fire extinguishers using DuPont™ FE-36™ clean agent have been successfully installed in the DuPont China Research & Development (R&D) Center in Shanghai, China, scheduled for its formal opening later this year.

In January, the DuPont Fluorochemicals China team announced the successful completion of the development with Duran Company for the use of DuPont™ FE-36™ in portable fire extinguishers, and product approval by the China Fire Fighting Bureau.

DuPont FE-36™ is one of a family of "clean agent" fire extinguishants developed by DuPont that is safer for people, assets, and the environment. It is ideally suited for use in portable fire extinguishers for high value asset applications like computer areas, telecommunication facilities, and process control rooms where equipment cannot be exposed to water or dry powder extinguishing options.  FE-36 is the leading hyrdrofluorocarbon (HFC) alternative to replace Halon 1211 in portable fire extinguishers globally.

"We have installed 80 Fire Cleaner™ units in the DuPont China R&D Center.  They provide superior protection to people, valuable laboratory equipment, and they’re safer for the environment. Fire Cleaner™ units have helped us to achieve the highest quality and safety standards," said Li Jian, Facility Services & Real Estate manager, DuPont Asia/Pacific.
