When it comes to environmental regulation, First Chemical complies not only with the letter of the law, but with its spirit.

The Pascagoula plant was one of the first in the nation accepted in the Credit for Early Reduction provision under Title III of the Clean Air Act. This provision rewards companies for voluntarily achieving a 90 percent reduction in toxic air emissions prior to full implementation of the Clean Air Act regulations.

First Chemical's participation in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 33/50 program won First Chemical the vice president's Hammer Award. The Hammer Award recognizes the company's participation in a voluntary program to reduce environmental releases of certain chemicals.

First Chemical is committed to protecting the environment of Jackson County, Mississippi. As an industry leader in the implementation of the latest environmental technology, First Chemical re-invests millions of dollars in the Jackson County facility each year for the sole purpose of complying with and exceeding all federal, state and local environmental protection regulations.
