Lake Region Monitor - DuPont Donates Pipe to Lawtey School

By: Arnie Harris, Telegraph Staff Writer

Thanks to the generosity of DuPont, a problem with drainage between the new school building at Lawtey Community School and the city of Lawtey was solved when the company donated pipe and workers to lay it on May 15.

Lawtey Mayor Jimmie Scott said that because there was a blockage in the existing drainage pipe, the water was not flowing properly.

Scott said that Lawtey Chief of Police Butch Jordan called DuPont, which had come to Lawtey's aid in the past many times whenever the city needed help.

DuPont wasted little time in having the pipes, machinery and manpower delivered to the school and having the situation remedied by the end of the day.

Scott said he wanted to extend his sincere thanks, on behalf of Lawtey, to DuPont and to the workers, Junior Brodsky, Cletus Brown, Michael Brown Jr., Jerry Dampier and Danny Shuford, and for their efforts.
