Trimethylsilyl 2-(fluorosulfonyl)difluoroacetate
RSUTMS is the trimethylsilyl ester of 2-(fluorosulfonyl) difluoroacetic acid. It is a colorless liquid useful as a source of difluorocarbene in synthesis of organofluorine compounds. RSUMTS is highly water-sensitive generating the corrresponding carboxylic acid instantaneously on exposure to moisture. RSUTMS dissociates in the presence of catalytic fluoride to give difluorocarbene which may be trapped by nucleophiles. RSUTMS is an excellent means of introducing a difluorocyclopropyl group into organic compounds containing a -C=C- functionality, and is of particular importance in polymer, pharmaceutical, and agrochemical applications.
