N,N-Dimethyl-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylamine

TFEDMA is a nucleophilic fluorinating agent used to convert alcohols to alkyl fluorides, carboxylic acids to acyl fluorides, and many sulfonic acids to sulfonyl fluorides.
TFEDMA has many advantages to the process chemist: a stable shelf life, is thermally stable to 190°C, fluorine efficient, and has a water soluble by-product. TFEDMA also exhibits enantioselectivity which make it an attractive alternative in active ingredient syntheses, and also enhanced reagent selectivity which may improve yields. TFEDMA is water sensitive and proper care is required.
