Forafac® WM improves the efficiency and effectiveness of water mist fire suppression systems for indoor spaces.

How do water mist systems work?
Refer to the diagram below.

Cooling
The most important property of water as a suppressant is its cooling capacity: in vaporization water can absorb energy over 2 MJ/kg which is superior to any other realistically conceivable suppressant.

Oxygen Depletion (Inerting)
The vaporization also locally inerts the atmosphere: the volume of water expands to over 1700 times of the original volume in vaporization.

Radiant Heat Blocking
The third principal suppression mechanism is independent of vaporization: a mist of small droplets effectively blocks radiative heat.

What’s improved with Forafac® WM?

Droplet Size
Forafac® WM does not alter the particle size compared to to a system using water only.

Faster Extinction
Forafac WM generates a foam blanket which stops vapour emission in addition to oxygen depletion. Forafac WM announces the penettration of water droplets into the flams.

Burnback Resistance
If a pool fire is extinguished only with water mist, re-ignition can occur at anytime. This is not the case if water contains a fluorinated surfactant based formulation.
