Frequently Asked Questions for DuPont™ UnderAnchor™ Invisible Tree Anchoring System

What does it do?
UnderAnchor™ is an innovative anchoring system for newly planted trees and shrubs that replaces stakes and wires.
How does it work?
The system consists of a piece of heavy-duty DuPont™ Landscape Fabric that is placed on top of the root ball and then secured, underground, to anchor the tree.
How is UnderAnchor™ different than other tree anchoring systems?
Unlike traditional systems that use stakes and wires, once installed the UnderAnchor™ is completely invisible above ground. In addition to looking better, the UnderAnchor™ offers the following advantages:
  • Improved plant health: Trees are free to sway in the wind which promotes healthy growing. With a traditional system part of the trunk secured, and only the part above the collar is free to move, which inhibits growth. This can create a weak spot which leaves the tree susceptible to damage in high winds. Also, too often, the wires and collars are left on too long which can damage the tree.
  • Improved Safety: Children can trip over or get “clothes-lined” by the guy wires that are part of a traditional system. UnderAnchor™ eliminates the need for guy wires so your kids have a safer place to play.
  • Easy to maintain planted tree: No wires to trip over or work around. Eliminates these obstacles above ground to help reduce the risk of nicking the tree with a string-trimmer.
