The DuPont™ Self-Charging Smoke Alarm is an innovation exclusive to DuPont which allows you to test your smoke alarm conveniently from the light switch, and since it has a self-charging power
pack, you never have to change the back-up battery. Simply connect the smoke alarm to an existing light fixture or wire the alarm like a traditional smoke detector.
Always fit alarm, according to manual instructions , on the ceiling or on the wall within 8.5 inches of the ceiling. This product is designed to detect products of combustion using the ionization principle, which generally react to fast flaming fires which consume combustible material rapidly and spread quickly. The SC202 is one of several DuPont home safety products.

There are two basic types of smoke alarms - IONIZATION Type and PHOTOELECTRIC type.
- IONIZATION smoke alarms are generally more effective at detecting fast, flaming fires - fires which consume combustible materials rapidly and spread quickly. Sources of these fires may include paper burning in a waste basket, or grease fire in the kitchen.
- PHOTOELECTRIC smoke alarms are generally more effective at detecting slow, smoldering fires - fires which can smoulder for hours before bursting into flames. Sources of these fires may include cigarettes burning in couches or bedding.
