In numerous standardized tests, leather tanned with DuPont™ Hydrology™ consistently resisted water penetration and absorption far better than conventionally-tanned leather.

Water Resistance

In static water absorption tests conducted in accordance with ASTM D6015, leathers tanned with DuPont™ Hydrology™ were more than twice as resistant to water absorption when compared to other treated leathers.

Stain Resistance*

DuPont™ Hydrology™ also helps leather resist staining. Dry soil doesn’t stick and most spills—including tough challengers such as soy sauce, red wine, fruit drinks and coffee—wash right out. Soil resistance was tested according to a modified AATCC TM123 and stain release was tested according to a modified AATCC TM130.

Exceptional dimensional stability and colorfastness

Leather tanned with DuPont™ Hydrology™ features dimensional stability, as tested using AATCC TM135. Leather tanned with DuPont™ Hydrology™ also exhibits remarkable fit memory, returning to its original shape even after repeated machine washings. In fact, leather tanned with DuPont™ Hydrology™ exhibits less than 5% shrinkage when tested through five wash/dry cycles.
Excellent colorfastness was shown in tests conducted using the washing method in AATCC TM135 (evaluated by AATCC EP1) and ASTM D5053. In test after test, leather tanned with DuPont™ Hydrology™ proves how easy it is to care for with no loss of important properties.

Exceptional ease of cleaning

Pillows, throws, bedding accessories and furniture cushions made of leather tanned with DuPont™ Hydrology™ are exceptionally easy to clean. Simple spills can be wiped right off*. For more thorough cleaning, items can be put in a washer and dryer without any concern about loss of color, repellency, suppleness or dimensional stability.
