September 12, 2006 DuPont P&IP Launches New Family of High-Performance Modifiers

DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers is launching a new family of high-performance modifiers that will convey specific desired properties to a wide variety of polymers. The first two products in the DuPont™ Entira™ line to be introduced globally are Entira™ AS and DuPont™ Entira™ Strong.

Developed by DuPont Mitsui Polychemicals Co., Ltd., a joint venture between DuPont and Mitsui Chemicals Inc., Entira™ AS offers antistatic properties, high frequency weldability and high moisture permeability. Typically, less than 40 percent by weight of Entira™ is needed in a polymer compound to achieve the desired benefits.

Applications for this innovative resin modifier include packaging materials for health and beauty aids, electronics, food and beverages, stationery and industrial materials.

DuPont™ Entira™ Strong is a polymeric additive that helps improve the performance and processibility of tapes, filaments and films made out of oriented polypropylene and polyester.  The addition of Entira™ Strong, even at loading levels as low as 2 to 3 percent by weight, delivers a multitude of performance-enhancing features ranging from increased hot drawability and tenacity to reduced dusting and splitting.

Entira™ Strong also reduces dusting, which minimizes blocking and wear on equipment, and helps create a better work environment.  And, by reducing splitting, Entira™ Strong helps increase productivity because there are fewer breaks during weaving and strapping operations.

"Each product in this family will offer compounders the ability to enhance specific performance properties to better meet end-user needs. Entira™ AS and Entira™ Strong are just the first in a long line of high-performance modifiers that DuPont will be bringing to the marketplace," said Todd Becker, global market manager, DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers.
