The Original Dry Film Photoresist Stays on the Leading Edge with New Fine Feature Offerings
DuPont Printed Circuit Materials, part of DuPont Electronic Technologies, celebrates the 40th anniversary of DuPont™ Riston® dry film photoresist in 2008, as it introduces new offerings for the fine feature imaging of printed wiring boards (PWBs). DuPont™ Riston® dry film photoresist revolutionized the way printed circuit boards were fabricated when it was invented by DuPont 40 years ago. Since that time, a broad portfolio of Riston® films has been developed for use in every major PWB application, and the brand has consistently led the market as technology demands and processes have evolved over the years. The newest additions to the portfolio include DuPont™ Riston® LDI7000 Laser Direct Imaging (LDI) dry film photoresist for direct imaging tent-and-etch applications, and DuPont™ Riston® PlateMaster 300 dry film photoresist, designed for fine feature pattern plating. More new Riston® films will be introduced later in the year.
“Riston® was the first dry film photoresist for PWB imaging. It set the standard for the industry and is still recognized as a leader,” said Mark Dirks, global marketing manager, DuPont Printed Circuit Materials. “Forty years of demonstrated commitment to the PWB industry has driven dedicated research and development, quality manufacturing, global market reach, and the technical and customer service expertise that has made Riston® an electronics essential. Through continued and close collaboration with our customers, Riston® will remain one of their key success factors for many years to come.”
New innovation continues to expand and further enhance the Riston® dry film photoresist product portfolio. DuPont is currently introducing the following two new products:
- Riston® LDI7000 dry film photoresist - the latest in the Laser Direct Imaging line of products. Riston® LDI7000 is specifically designed for fine feature imaging with tent-and-etch to deliver high yields through improved tenting, resolution, process productivity and process latitude.
- DuPont™ Riston® PlateMaster 300 dry film photoresist - the latest in the MasterSeries of products, specifically designed for fine feature pattern plating. It has improved adhesion, conformation and chemical resistance, tenting and stripping properties.
Both DuPont™ Riston® LDI7000 and Plate Master 300 incorporate Riston® clean developer technology which improves yields and reduces operating costs.
