Healthcare Surfaces

The fight to control infections in healthcare facilities is no longer just a facility issue. It is, today, an issue of healthcare design, and the surfaces that you specify play an important role in helping you create safe and healthy environments.

DuPont™ Corian® solid surfaces and Zodiaq® quartz surfaces, created by a growing network of contractors, trained to work in healthcare facilities, ensure that your designs meet critical standards. Some examples of this are:

Corian® meets all and Zodiaq® meets most of the 18 characteristics of a preferred surface as defined in the 2006 Guidelines for Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities, published by the Facilities Guideline Institute and AIA.

Corian® and Zodiaq® have both been evaluated in accordance with the ANSI/UL Standard 723 Test for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials by the Underwriters Laboratory, Inc.Corian® and Zodiaq® are NSF/ANSI 51 Certified for food contact.Corian® and Zodiaq® are also certified as low VOC emitting materials by the GREENGUARD® Environmental Institute.Corian® and Zodiaq® are also GREENGUARD Listed for microbial resistance.

The attributes of these wonder surfaces include:

• Easy to clean and maintain. When properly cleaned, Corian® is not condusive to the growth of mold and mildew. • A nonporous surface with a smooth, seamless appearance. • Extremely durable and long-lasting, standing up to hard knocks in high-traffic environments that can easily damage other surfaces like drywall and laminate. • Easy to renew and repair. • Flexible and versatile. • Class I (A) Fire rated • Stain resistant • Slip resistant • Heat-resistant • Available in 140 colors
