At DuPont India, recognizing the inter-dependence of social progress, economic success and environmental excellence is the first step to achieving community sustainability. DuPont supports social and welfare activities in the local communities in which it operates.
Since 1990, the DuPont Community Fund has initiated several support projects worldwide. It is a grassroot level program, designed for and implemented at DuPont sites to provide support in improving the quality of life and to enhance the vitality of communities.
In India, the DuPont Community Fund supports community initiatives in and around the DuPont sites, which are located in Savli, Madurai and Hyderabad. These activities have focussed on improving the education facility at the school, and upgrading the village infrastructure and creating a hygienic school environment.
The employees of DuPont India have contributed to Prayas - sponsoring a few of the children there to help build a better and brighter future for them, by paying for their education, medical requirements, clothing, food and shelter.
Academy for Street & Working Children is a school set up by the not-for-profit organization Humana People to People India. The academy runs a rehabilitation and education program for under-privileged children in the urban slums near Gurgaon.
DuPont also encourages individual employees to engage in voluntary work through a global Voluntary Employee Recognition Program, which recognizes the voluntary efforts of employees by giving grants to the agencies they volunteer with.
